Gokhale made his feature film directing debut in 2010 with the Marathi film Aaghaat. In 2013, he won the National Film Award for Best Actor for his performance in the Sprint Arts Creation-produced Marathi film Anumati.

Mohan Gokhale: Mohan Gokhale was an Indian film, television, and theatre actor who appeared in movies like Sparsh, Bhavani Bhavai, and Mirch Masala. His father was a senior journalist who was the Editor of the weekly Swarajya and the Assistant Editor of Sakal in Pune. Mohan Gokhale's wife was Shubhangi Gokhale. They both appeared in Mr. Yogi. Shubhangi took a 10-year break from television and theatre after marrying Mohan Gokhale. They had a baby. Their daughter, Sakhi Gokhale, is also an actress. Gokhale died in his sleep from a heart attack on April 29, 1999, in Chennai. He was working on Kamal Haasan's Hey Ram at the time, as well as the TV shows Alpaviram, Zanjeerein, and Aashirvad.
