1. YUVARATHANAA – AMAZON PRIME VIDEO

Yuvarathnaa, starring Puneeth Rajkumar, Sayyeshaa, Sonu Gowda, Dhananjaya, and Prakash Raj, was added to Amazon Prime Video's South Indian film collection in early April. Santhosh Ananddram wrote and directed the action thriller, which stars Rajkumar as Arjun, an engineering student who is battling a crooked system and dirty politicians to save his college from closure due to rampant privatisation.

 

2. THE GREAT INDIAN KITCHEN – AMAZON PRIME VIDEO 

The Great Indian Kitchen is a Malayalam drama film about a newly married woman's struggles to adapt to her new home and family life. In this Jeo Baby-directed film, Nimisha Sajayan plays the lead role and responds appropriately to her new patriarchal in-laws.

 

3. THE PRIEST – AMAZON PRIME VIDEO

Mammootty, Manju Warrier, and Nikhila Vimal star in this Malayalam drama film that has received critical acclaim around the world. The film's storyline follows a priest and a police officer as they try to solve a series of suspicious suicides. It was nominated for an Academy Award in the horror category.

 

4. JOJI – AMAZON PRIME VIDEO

On Amazon Prime Video, watch Fahad Fassil take the lead and mesmerise you in Joji. Shakespeare's tragedy Macbeth influenced the crime thriller film. In this Malayalam film, greed, ambition, and an unexpected twist take centre stage. 

 

5. IRUL – NETFLIX

Fahadh Faasil starred in Netflix's Irul just days before Joji was released on Amazon Prime Video. What an eventful month for the actor. It's a nail-biting thriller that keeps you hooked until the very last frame. In addition to Soubin Shahir and Darshana Rajendran, Irul stars Soubin Shahir and Darshana Rajendran. The three protagonists are stuck inside an old-timey hill house with a mysterious woman's body bound in the basement – and her killer still loose in the house.

 

6. MANDELA – NETFLIX 

Mandela, starring Yogi Babu, Sheela Rajkumar, and Sangili Murugan, explores the caste system and vote-bank politics. A barber is in a strong role in a local election between two opposing parties because his vote determines who wins. What people go through has no clear caste names or implications. All is set in the background, allowing for comparisons to be drawn. This grim satire political film should be on your list of new releases to keep an eye on.

 

7. MATHIL – ZEE5

Mathil is a Zee5 Original film in Tamil. It is a political drama about the life of Lakshmikanthan, a commoner who is battling a politician who wants to take possession of his property and uproot his life. As Lakshmikanthan takesa on the dominant politician, unforeseen dramatic events occur.
