1. Karan Chopra:
Karan Chopra quit his job package of Rs 6 lakh per annum in Mumbai at TCS. He moved back to his hometown and started a business that sold LED bulbs. He made roughly Rs 60,000 in one year. So, he moved on and got interested in solar power and started a solar installation business known as Chirayu Power Private Limited. With more than 250 clients, offices in Pune, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Khamgaon, his company has reached the worth of Rs 14 crore.
2. Sharath Somanna:
Sharath Somanna bagged his first construction contract in 2013 by restarting a construction of a building which had stopped mid way. In this way, he bagged many more contracts and grew his company Blue Oak Constructions and Interiors Private Limited to a turnover of Rs 20 crore. The most impressive thing about Mr Sharath is that he has no formal training in civil engineering.
3. Faizal Ahamed:
C M Faizal Ahamed started his business Suxus with seven sewing machines and three tailorsin Madhurai in 2006. His company stands for making clothing priced as much as a cup of tea. Suxus is one of the most famous men’s garments in Tamil Nadu. Long queues are seen outside the new openings in the city. Today Mr Faizal has made Suxus into a Rs 50 crore turnover brand.
4. Hitesh Rathi:
A middle class engineer, Hitesh Rathi, quit his job in construction and started a company that sold camel milk with an initial investment of Rs 2 lakh. As his company grew, he started adding more camel milk products to Aadvik foods including chocolates. In 2018-19, Aadvik Foods reached a turnover of Rs 4.5 crores.
5. Upma Kapoor:
Upma Kapoor had a keen interest in beauty since she was a teenager. After separating from her husband, Umpa invested Rs 8 lakh and started her own beauty brand Teal and Terra. Teal and Terra had grown to be worth Rs 80 crore in the first year and in 2019-20 closing FY with Rs 2.2 crore.
6. Karthik Manikandan:
The owner of the famous Sangam Group of Hotels in South India is Karthik Manikandan. He started organising tours and trips for his college while doing his B Tech. Eventually, it turned into a business that earned him a profit of Rs 25 lakh by the time he graduated. Today, Sangam Group of Hotels is worth Rs 90 crore.
7. Deep Bajaj:
Deep Bajaj’s wife complained about public toilets never being clean. Unclean toilets can cause a lot of health and hygiene problems and holding in your excreta causes worse long term problems. That is why Deep Bajaj developed Pee Buddy, a device used by women who can pee standing up like men. Pee Buddy Private Limited reported to have made a turnover of Rs 1 crore in 2016-17 and 2.5 crore in 2017-18. Now Pee Buddy has also started other products like wet wipes, underarm sweat pads, menstrual cups, tampons, and herbal pain relief patches.
