At the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival, Rishab Shetty Was Named 'Most Promising Actor' for Kantara

Rishabh Shetty, who put Kannada on the map with his blockbuster film Kantara, has won a major award. He won the award for 'Most Promising Actor' at the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival 2023. The award will be presented to the actor and filmmaker on February 20 in Mumbai.

 

On social media, the Central Censor Board and the CEO of the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival revealed the major news. The actor receives the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival's Most Promising Actor Award for his performance as Shiva in Kantara.

 

Kantara's Backdrop
The film, which was shot on a low budget and was initially released only in Kannada, received widespread acclaim from audiences. Due to the positive reviews, the film was dubbed in all major Indian languages and became one of the year's biggest successes. Kantara also entered the Oscar contest, with two nominations on the longlist.
Kantara was created and directed by Rishab Shetty himself. The film is set in the Keraadi district of coastal Karnataka and revolves around the regional ritual dance form known as Bhoota Kola. Sapthami Gowda, Kishore, Achyuth Kumar, Pramod Shetty, and others play crucial roles in the critically praised film. The film's worldwide gross earnings surpassed Rs 500 crore, making it only the second Kannada film to do so.

Rishab Shetty recently met Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a special luncheon at Raj Bhavan in Bengaluru, representing the Kannada film industry. Yashand, the producers of Homable Films, and Puneeth Rajkumar's wife accompanied the actor. According to accounts, the PM complimented him for creating Kantara.

 

The actor claimed that they addressed a variety of things, including the state of the Kannada film business and the entertainment industry's expectations. PM Modi even complimented Rishab on the film's enormous success and praised it for capturing the country's rich culture.
