Ratsasan

Ratsasan is a (2018) psychological crime thriller directed by Ram Kumar. The story of the film revolves around an aspiring film director who becomes a police officer after the death of his father and moves aggressively to chase down a serial murderer. The lead roles are played by Vishnu Vishal and Amala Paul and the other cast included Saravanan, Kaali Venkat, Vinodhini Vaidyanathan and Ramdoss in supporting roles.

Ratsasan was also remade in Telugu with the title Rakshasudu in 2019 and simultaneously had a Hindi release by the name Main Hoon Dandadhikari. The film is so terrifying that you can watch it with spooky eyes. It is one of the best Tamil thriller movies in recent times and one can watch the movie on the OTT Disney + Hotstar platform. 

Thuppakki 

A. R. Murugadoss directional Thuppaki is a benchmark commercial movie for a mass hero. The movie is a new concept of a network of sleeper cells, and how Captain Jagadish eliminates them is the whole plot.

Vijay always selects wonderful scripts and Thuppakki is one of the best movies in his career where Vijay looks cool and fits perfectly into the narrative and manages to entertain throughout. On the other hand, Vidyut Jammwal looks bright as a stylish antagonist adding more thrills to the cat and mouse play. It is a movie where you find mass and classy elements. 

Chekka Chivantha Vaanam 

Mani Ranam’s action thriller Chekka Chivantha Vaanam is a well constructed multi starrer which revolves around three brothers named Varadhan, Thyagu and Ethi who fight against each other to conquer the throne after their father Senapathy who is a business tycoon cum gangster.

With mesmerizing action scenes, also backed by star acting, Rahman’s music, and Santhosh Sivan’s magical camera work. However the film lacked depth and had predictable twists, the bottom line is that it is very much enjoyable and satisfying. 

Kadhalil Sodhappuvadhu Yeppadi

Starring the famous Siddharth & Amala Paul as a lead pair, Director Balaji Mohan in his debut film delivered an unconditional love story which received positive views for Balaji's kind of direction. The movie starts with two college-goers and the blossoming of love between them. What made the film different from others is that Balaji Mohan worked on the screenplay, giving attention to the supporting cast and their sub-plots

Mynaa 

Starring Vidharth & Amala Paul, Mynaa is an emotional, beautiful drama and it is also one of the Best Tamil Movies on Hotstar directed by Prabhu Solomon. The movie is about the life of a couple named Suruli (Vidharth) and Mynaa (Amala Paul), who are under the custody of policemen. A solid climax, natural performances is what makes Mynaa an intense love drama, in addition the soothing visuals and the euphonious music by D. Imman is a major plus. 

Vikram Vedha 

Tamil superstars Vijay Sethupathi and Maddy (Madhavan) starrer Vikram Vedha is an action thriller which is inspired from Indian folktale Baital Pachisi. This movie is a set on a vision that goes on to tell three stories hunting through the good and the bad.

Vikram Vedha is also the return film for the directors duo Pushkar and Gayatri, after Va (2010). Vikram Vedha was released in theaters in the year 2017 and had a huge impact on cine lovers. Undoubtedly the most popular Tamil movie and certainly one of the best Tamil movies, Vikram Vedha is still viewed in various national pockets on the OTT platform Disney + Hotstar.

Nanban

The Robo director Shankar who is known for his brilliance in film making, remade Rajkumar Hirani’s 3 Idiots with Thalapathy in the lead role. The film has Jeeva, Srikanth, Satyaraj, and Ileana D Cruz as the primary cast. Those who saw 3 Idiots know the plot of the film, and unfortunately, the film was an exact copy of the original movie.

However, what makes Shankar's Nanban special is the songs and picturisation. If you haven't watched the original movie then you will definitely love the movie and laugh out till the end.
