Viduthalai trailer: Vijay Sethupathi, Vetrimaaran and Soori teams up together for an intense social drama

 

Viduthalai, the much-anticipated social drama which is directed by the National Award-winning filmmaker Vetrimaaran, has been under works for quite some time now. The shooting of the film, which is slated to get released in two parts, was recently completed. After waiting for a long time, Vetrimaaran and his team have now released the official trailer of Viduthalai: Part 1, and it has completely raised expectations over the movie, which features Soori as the protagonist and Vijay Sethupathi in a key role.

The highly anticipated official trailer of Viduthalai Part 1, which has a duration of 2.42 minutes, suggests that director Vetrimaaran is preparing to make a comeback to the celluloid with yet another soul-stirring film experience. According to the trailer, the social drama tends to revolve around a fiery fight between the system, particularly a battalion of policemen, and a gang of rebels recognised as 'Makkal Padai' (People's Army), who are formed to prevent atrocities against women and the victimised. The raw portrayal of the police force, realistic visuals, iconic musician Ilaiyaraja's strong background score, and fantastic star cast all suggest that Viduthalai will be a truly revolutionary cinematic experience for the Tamil film industry.

 

Soori is seen as the protagonist, a very young police constable named Kumaresan who is a part of the system, that is on a mission to eliminate 'Makkal Padai' and its leader, Perumal Vathiyar. National award-winning actor Vijay Sethupathi is making an extended special appearance in the Viduthalai movie franchise by playing the character of Perumal Vathiyar. The police chief is played by actor and filmmaker Gautham Vasudev Menon.

 

About the Viduthalai

 

Along with Soori, Vijay Sethupathi, and Gautham Vasudev Menon, the Vetrimaaran-directed film showcases a stellar supporting cast that includes Prakash Raj, cinematographer-filmmaker Rajiv Menon, Bhavani Sre, Chetan, Ilavarasu, and many others. The songs and original scores for the project were composed by legendary musician Ilaiyaraaja. Dhanush, the popular actor, has made his appearance as a playback singer for the movie, lending his voice to a song.

 

Viduthalai, which is based on B Jeyamohan's popular work Thunaivan, was co-written by the writer and director Vetrimaaran. The director of photography is R Velraj. The film, that will be produced by Elred Kumar under the banner RS Infotainment and dispersed by Udhayanidhi Stalin's home banner Red Giant Movies, is set to be released in theatres on March 31, this year.
