Google Play Store implements time buffer for the review process and ratings.

Google has disclosed a tweak that will enable it to screen out questionable reviews and ratings.

  • To counteract suspicious reviews, Google is adopting a new update to its ratings and reviews.
  • New reviews will now be published 24 hours after submission due to the change.
  • Newly submitted reviews can still be viewed and responded to by developers

In app stores like the Google Play Store, reviews and ratings of the apps are quite essential. They not only enlighten potential users but also give developers input that they may use to make the software better. However, it happens frequently for fraudulent reviews to overrun the reviews section, which is useless. Google is now developing a strategy to combat fraudulent ratings and reviews on its store.

Google has indicated that it will be making adjustments to its ratings and reviews system, as found by Mishaal Rahman. The tech company claims in the release that it will introduce a delay when customers submit reviews or ratings. The rating or review will be published after about 24 hours.

As per Google, if you are the developer, you will still be able to see and respond to every review and rating as soon as it is posted. However, until the 24-hour period has passed, those opinions and rankings will remain secret.

With this new modification to the Google Play Store ratings and reviews system, app developers should be better safeguarded against situations like review bombing, in which users purposefully give negative reviews to an app in an effort to decrease its sales or popularity for reasons unrelated to its quality. Additionally, it ought to lead to evaluations of a higher calibre that more accurately describe what it's like to use the app.

Hopefully, this modification will benefit consumers and developers as Google intends.
