Wheat beers are a favorite among Indian craft beers due to their fruitiness and usually low IBU (International Bitterness Units). So what is wheat beer? Wheat beers use more wheat than barley to make the beer, and the higher protein content of the former results in cloudy beers, but gives the beers a fuller, thicker mouthfeel. Wheat, unlike malted barley, does not add much of its own flavor to the final product, and therefore yeast plays a very important role in flavor. The two most popular types of wheat in India are Hefeweizen and Belgian Wit. Let's look at both one by one and list the Indian brands in bottles for you.

1.Belgian Wit Bier 

 

 Wit Bier is made in Belgium with at least 50% unmalted wheat, which distinguishes them from the German style and the coriander and orange peel spices that the Belgians add to this style. They could add more spices but above are the basics. Hoegaarden revived that style around the world and especially in India with his ritual of adding an orange slice to the glass. 3.Mad King Dufa:

 

Thought in Delhi but made in Belgium. Another brewery is Kolga, a lager. White Owl 

 

4.White Owl Spark:
It started as a microbrewery in Mumbai and continues to do so, but has also added bottled food.

 

5.Bira White:

 

The craft beer that started the bottled beer wave in the country continues to grow.  

 

6.White Rhino:
India's first bottling craft brewery that also infuses its spicy beer with Himalayan coriander. 

 

7.Mahou Maestra Wheat Beer:
Although owned by Mahou from Spain, it is made in India and uses Himalayan coriander and Seville orange peel. 

 

8.Willy's Witbier:

 Willy's Witbier by Greenstar Brewing is a Wheat Beer .The latest entrant in the bottled witbier segment, Willand#039;s by Briggs Brewery Bengaluru has now launched in Bengaluru. 

 
 Hefeweizen: 
 This German hazy wheat beer has so much banana and frame flavor thanks to the yeast that many palates can't stand it, so a lemon we hdge helps lift it. It can be made from both malted and unmalted wheat. In Germany, Hefe is made from yeast or beer, usually unfiltered yeast introduced by Weihenstephan, who claims to be the world's oldest brewery through their beer.
