The 7 wonders Of The World

The New Seven Wonders of the World were established in the year 2000 by the "New 7 Wonders Foundation (N7W)," a Swiss company based in Zurich. This initiative aimed to name the New 7 Wonders, as only one of the original ancient Wonders of the World remained standing at the time. The selection process involved more than 100 million votes, reflecting genuine public interest before the era of internet bots.

The New Seven Wonders of the World were formally unveiled in the year 2007. While the results sparked some controversy, the chosen wonders have left a lasting impression on those who have visited them. Here's a glimpse into these awe-inspiring wonders:

1. Petra, Jordan

Petra, hidden away for centuries, captivates visitors with its 1.2-kilometer-long siq, a narrow gorge framed by towering rock walls. The reveal of the Treasury building at its end is a breathtaking moment. This ancient wonder was concealed until Swiss explorer Johann Ludwig Burckhardt rediscovered it in 1812, and it has since become Jordan's top tourist attraction.

2. Great Wall of China

The Great Wall of China, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, spans approximately 9,000 kilometers and offers breathtaking vistas as it winds through majestic mountains. It was built over centuries, beginning in the 7th century, and has become an iconic symbol of China's rich history.

3. Christ the Redeemer, Brazil

Overlooking Rio de Janeiro, Christ the Redeemer stands tall atop Mount Corcovado, providing a breathtaking panoramic view of the city. This colossal statue, measuring 30 meters in height, began construction in 1926 and has made Rio one of the world's most popular tourist destinations.

4. Colosseum, Italy

The Colosseum in Rome, constructed in the 1st century, bears witness to a tumultuous past. It once hosted gladiator battles, gruesome executions, and contests involving animals. Today, it stands as a historic marvel, drawing over 6 million visitors annually.

5. Machu Picchu, Peru

Perched at a lofty altitude within the Andes mountains, Machu Picchu often finds itself veiled in a perpetual shroud of clouds. Nevertheless, the breathtaking splendor of this ancient Incan city never fails to emerge. Unveiled to the western world in 1911, it is thought to have been inhabited as far back as the 1600s.

6. Chichen Itza, Mexico

Chichen Itza, with its origins tracing back to the 9th century, features a grand pyramid that was once open for climbing by tourists. However, it is now off-limits to visitors due to the steep and perilous nature of its ascent. This Mayan city is celebrated for its remarkable alignment with significant astronomical events.

7. Taj Mahal, India

The Taj Mahal, an exquisite example of Mughal architecture, was constructed by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife who passed away in 1631. Completed in 1658, it is a symbol of enduring love and a masterpiece of architectural beauty.

These New Seven Wonders of the World continue to inspire travelers and evoke a sense of wonder and admiration for their historical and architectural significance.
