1. Durga Puja

This is the biggest festival that is celebrated every year during Sukla Paksha in West Bengal. This festival stretches over five days named Maha Panchami, Maha Shasti, Maha Saptamai, Maha Asthami, Maha Navami and Bijaya Dashami.

2. Pushkar Mela

This festival is celebrated in Rajasthan. It is the largest fair in Rajasthan where tourists from all over India and the world join to celebrate. In this fair transaction of livestock, competition for the longest moustache, the bridal competition, breaking pots and many more. This is celebrated during October and November.

3. Konark Festival

This is a dance and sand art festival that is related to the Sun Temple in Konark, Odisha. This is celebrated to spread awareness about the UNESCO World Heritage Monument. This was the first time organized in the year 1989, having too much culture and traditional values. Millions of tourists visit the Sun Temple which is announced to be a world heritage site.

4. Thrissur Pooram

This festival is held specifically at Vadakkunnathan Temple at Thrissur, Kerala. It is celebrated annually in Kerala. This is celebrated when the moon rises with the Pooram star which is the largest among all other Poorams. This was started by Raja Rama Verma. This consists of events like Flag Hoisting (Kodiyettam), royal fans, display of ornamental caparisons, Firecrackers, peacock feathers and sacred bells.

5. Ladakh Festival

This is a mixture of festivals that are collectively called as a whole. Some festivals are named Ladakh, Losar, Hemis and Sindhu Darshan Festivals. It takes place in the month of September. It is organized by the state tourism department. This festival has dance, art, yak and dragon dances and processions.

6. Kila Raipur Sports Festival

It is popularly known as Rural Oylmpic that take place in Ludhiyana, Punjab. It is celebrated in the month of February where thousands of people including foreigners attend the event. In this event bulls, dogs, camels, dokeys, mules and other animals are used.

7. Hornbill Festival

It is celebrated in northeastern part of Nagaland. It is genarally called Festival of Festivals. This festival is celebrated between  1st to7th December in Kohima. In this festival every tribe of Nagaland participates making it beautiful festival of colours and traditions. In this festival arts and craft, herbal medicine, games, beauty contests, rock bands, traditional archery, Naga dance and wrestling and many other such stalls are set up.
