What Is The Difference Between Lunar Eclipse & Solar Eclipse? Read to find out!

The process of an eclipse (Grahan) happens between three celestial bodies named, the sun, moon, and the earth. Now, let's talk about it briefly.

First, let's discuss a solar eclipse (Surya Grahan). A solar eclipse happens when the sun is fully or partially hidden by the passing of the moon in between the earth and the sun and a lunar eclipse (Chandra Grahan) happens when the moon is partially or fully hidden by the shadow of the earth while passing between the moon and the sun. All these things happen in just a small time.

We all know that the moon is 300 times closer to the earth in comparison to the sun. That is why lunar eclipses happen much more than solar eclipses. And for that also the duration of a lunar eclipse is longer than solar eclipses. A solar eclipse happens once in 18 months, on the other hand, a lunar eclipse happens two times a year. The important difference between these is that a solar eclipse happens during the day and a lunar eclipse happens during the night.  It is safe to see a lunar eclipse with naked eyes but watching a solar eclipse with naked eyes is not safe.
