Deepika Kumari is a world-famous Indian archer, known for her incredible talent and determination. Once ranked world number one in recurve archery, she has proudly represented India in multiple Olympic Games. She rose to fame after winning a gold medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games. Deepika is now aiming to bring home India’s first Olympic medal in archery at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Early Life
Deepika was born on 13 June 1994 in Ranchi, Jharkhand. From a very young age, she showed interest in archery. Despite financial struggles, she began practising using a bamboo bow. Her journey took a major turn in 2006 when she joined the Tata Archery Academy in Jamshedpur, where she received professional training.

Education
Deepika completed her early education in Ranchi. Not much is publicly known about her college or higher qualifications. However, she always focused more on sports than academics, dedicating her life to archery.

Family
Deepika comes from a humble background. Her father, Shivnarayan Mahato, is an auto-rickshaw driver, and her mother, Geeta Mahato, is a nurse. She married fellow archer Atanu Das on 30 June 2020. The couple has a daughter named Vedika, born in 2022.

Career
Deepika's career began with a gold at the 2010 Commonwealth Games when she was just 16. She continued to win medals at the Youth World Championships and multiple World Cups. Though she didn’t win an Olympic medal, she remained one of India’s top archers. After giving birth in 2022, she made a strong comeback by winning two gold medals at the 2024 Asian Cup in Iraq.
