P V Sindhu, born Pusarla Venkata Sindhu, hails from Hyderabad, Telangana, and is a prominent Indian badminton player and model. Born on 5 July 1995 to parents P. V. Ramana and Vijaya, she grew up alongside her elder sister, Divyaram Pusarla. Sindhu attended Auxilium High School in Hyderabad for her schooling and later graduated from St. Ann’s College for Women, Hyderabad.

Making her international debut in 2009, Sindhu swiftly climbed the ranks to reach a career-high ranking of No. 2 in April 2017. She holds the distinction of being the first Indian player to clinch the Badminton World Championship title.

Employed with Bharat Petroleum since July 2013, initially as an assistant sports manager and later promoted to deputy sports manager post her silver-medal win at the Rio Olympics, Sindhu has also been appointed as the first brand ambassador of Bridgestone India. Additionally, she was selected as the Deputy Collector (Group-I) by the Andhra Pradesh government.
