Early Life & Education
Sania was born in Mumbai on November 15, 1986, and was raised in Hyderabad in a household that encouraged her love of tennis.  She was first taught by her father when she started playing at the age of six.  Sania balanced her scholastic obligations with her athletic responsibilities while attending Hyderabad's Nasr School and then graduating from St. Mary's College.

 Sania's family is middle class and supportive.  Her mother, Nasima Mirza, stays at home while her father, Imran Mirza, works as a sports journalist.  In 2010, Sania wed Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik, and the two welcomed their son, Izhaan, into the world in 2018.However, the pair separated in 2024. Rumors about her link with Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami surfaced but remain unconfirmed.

Tennis Career
Sania turned professional in 2003 and made history by winning the 2005 Hyderabad Open. Her 2007 ranking of 27th in the world marked the pinnacle of her singles career.  After turning her attention to doubles, she achieved enormous success, taking home six Grand Slam titles, three of which were in women's and mixed doubles.  In doubles tennis, her duo with Martina Hingis, renowned as "Santina" was one of the most powerful.  She stopped playing tennis professionally in 2022 after retiring from singles in 2013.
