Introduction & Early Life

Born on 21 December 1972 in Pulivendula, Andhra Pradesh, Yeduguri Sandinti Jagan Mohan Reddy is the son of the popular former Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy and Y. S. Vijayamma. Educated at Hyderabad Public School, he earned a B.Com degree before turning to business and later politics.

Political Rise

Jagan entered politics after his father’s tragic death in 2009. He founded the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) in 2011, led a massive Praja Sankalpa Yatra across Andhra Pradesh, and secured a sweeping victory in the 2019 Assembly polls. He has served as Chief Minister since May 2019 and won re-election in 2024 from his Pulivendula constituency.

He married Y. S. Bharathi Reddy on 28 August 1996. The couple has two daughters: Y. S. Harshini Reddy (also spelled Varsha) and Y. S. Varsha Reddy. Bharathi is actively involved in campaign activities and media management (Sakshi Group), while both daughters are minors in 2025.

Jagan comes from a prominent political family. His mother Y. S. Vijayamma previously served as MLA and was YSRCP chairperson, and his sister Y. S. Sharmila now leads the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee. Their father’s legacy remains central to his political identity.
