Bollywood Blind Item: Cricketer's Biopic Gets Shelved

As per a source, a top filmmaker was in talks with a retired cricketer for making his biopic. The cricketer in question was part of the team that won the ODI World Cup a decade back. His victories, his match winning knocks, combined with his tryst with a terminal disease & his eventual victory over it would have made for an interesting movie. When the top filmmaker, known for his knack for picking box office winners suggested the name of a talented actor who shone in character roles in movies & web series, the cricketer was disappointed. He instead wanted a greek god superstar or a superstar from Bollywood's first family to play him in his biopic. The filmmaker reasoned that the movie needed a fresh face & that a big name is not required for the movie as the cricketer himself is a household name. His biopic did not require a big name to create a buzz. But the cricketer would have none of it. This led to a stalemate in talks & eventual shelving of the project by the filmmaker.

The cricketer's arch rival's biopic starred a star who was just a single hit old when he was signed on to play the world cup winning captain. The movie ended up becoming a big hit & further cementing the brand pull of the legendary cricketer. The cricketer in question too should have been more reasonable in his demands. Meanwhile we are happy that the filmmaker who known for promoting star kids is now pushing for an outsider.
