Bollywood Blind Item: Rigged Awards?
It is an open secret that Indian film awards are rigged & have zero credibility. But one still hopes for an iota of meritocracy from the most popular & respected film award. But one studio boss has ruined the reputation of this sought-after film award by rigging the award to a despicable extent. It doesn't help that the film award in question has cringy gutka brands as its official sponsor. The film award used to symbolize class, talent & timelessness. But now it signifies pull within the industry & a "for sale" tag. The winner list of this year's award has led to a collective meltdown of Bollywood celebs who are not part of the studio boss's inner circle. As per a source, an actress who was nominated for the best female actor category was fuming after the studio boss's favorite won it for a movie that tanked at the box office without a trace. It would have been one thing to lose it to a noteworthy performance. But the star's performance wasn't in any way award-worthy. A young heartthrob who will be seen in the studio's upcoming production won the best actor trophy for another flop. An actor who debuted with the studio won the best male newcomer's award.
A superstar notorious for rigging awards & box office collections used his clout to bag every award possible. He brags about dedicating an entire room in his mansion to his awards. He influenced, bribed, and pressurized judges to give him the award. It helped that he hosted most of these award shows along with his studio boss buddy & the fact that they both are extremely powerful. No entertainment journalist, actor, or filmmaker has ever dared to speak about it. Another top studio, too is notorious for its iron grip on these awards. Western awards never got swayed by an actor's stardom & rewarded the performances, efforts taken by the actors to get into the skin of the character, etc & are well respected across the globe. Winning an award can give a significant boost to an actor's career. Indian awards reward actors who have to make little or no effort to play their characters. A star who agrees to perform at the awards event can pressure the organisers to hand the award over to him/her. The aforementioned superstar literally played a version of himself in most of the movies for which he won the best actor's trophy - an urban male settled abroad who falls in love! Meanwhile, method actors who gave their heart & soul for their characters were never given their due recognition. "It's an honour just to be nominated" is the tagline of Hollywood's most prestigious awards. Can any Indian actor say this about an Indian award with a straight face?
Can you guess the celebs we are talking about?
