Bollywood Blind Item: Studio Loses Faith In South Movies Director

This South Indian filmmaker who was riding high on the success of his debut Bollywood movie has been reeling from the failure of his last release - a Hindi remake of his own blockbuster South Indian movie. The studio that bankrolled the movie was livid over the huge losses it had to bear. The movie went over budget but the movie's co-producer supported the filmmaker thanks to his track record. The A-list filmmaker not taking any responsibility for the film's failure made matters worse. The studio is in no mood to work with him again & neither is the co-producer. As per a source, the studio has refused to bankroll the filmmaker's two upcoming movies which he wanted to work on after his next release - a big-budget epic starring India's biggest movie star. One of the projects was with an A-list superstar who has been in the industry for more than two decades - his last movie flopped badly upon release. The other project was with an actor who recently made his debut & is politically connected. The co-producer has refused to invest in two other movies including the big-budget epic.
While the filmmaker is facing a tough time, one hit is all it will take for the studio to go running back toward the filmmaker. The big-budget epic will see India's biggest superstar in a dual role - of father & son. But while it is one thing to be confident of your abilities, it is another thing to be arrogant. The filmmaker refusing to take the blame for his last release was unprofessional. The Bollywood superstar who starred in his Hindi debut movie played a huge role in its success. We wonder whether the filmmaker can pull off a big hit without a big star headlining his movie.
