Matheesha Pathirana Biography, Father Name

Matheesha Pathirana was born on December 18, 2002, in Kandy, Sri Lanka. He has been rising at the international level very fast with his clingy bowling action, and when he strings those together, it is just like the legendary Lasith Malinga. Cricket enthusiasts have aptly named him "Baby Malinga."
Early Life and Education
He was an ardent cricket lover from a young age. His school was at Ranabima Royal College. Then, he grew well at cricketing activities since he used to play for the college cricket team. Thereafter, being highly potential he was transferred to Trinity College, Kandy. It is an extremely popular college. In respect of cricket, over the decades it has established tremendous cricketing success. He developed his fast bowling there, and shortly he became one of the vital playing hands in the college cricket games.
National and International Career
Pathirana also played Twenty20 for SLC Greys in the SLC Invitational T20 League in August 2021. His talent was spotted by the Chennai Super Kings, who announced that he would replace New Zealand's Adam Milne for CSK in the IPL 2022. Under the tutelage of CSK's skipper MS Dhoni, Pathirana thrived, especially in death-over situations, a role he took from Dwayne Bravo. He marked his IPL debut with a scintillating performance by sending back the Gujarat Titans opener Shubman Gill off his very first delivery, thus making him the first Sri Lankan and ninth to achieve this in the history of IPL. There are other leagues of cricket except IPL where the talents of this player were featured. He played for the Kandy Falcons in the Lanka Premier League at the end of July 2022, regaining himself in league cricket.
National Career
He finally found a place in Sri Lanka's national team after consistent performances.
His T20I match came up against Afghanistan in the Asia Cup on 27 August 2022. Then his first ODI match surfaced on 2 June 2023 against Afghanistan, for which he took his first wicket in the ODIs with Rahmat Shah being the very first casualty.
He was also added to Sri Lanka's squad in the June 2023 ICC ODI World Cup Qualifier. That says a lot about how this player has grown as an international-level player.
Personal Life
Matheesha hails from a musical family. His father, Anura Pathirana, is in the government, and his mother used to play rhythm guitars with the 'Salalihiniyo' band. His sisters, Vishuka and Tharindi, are musicians; one sister can play the piano while the other sister can play guitar very well. He can play the piano and loves singing.
