The MIDC Police Station in Nagpur was established on March 25, 1977. It is headed by Senior Police Inspector (PI) Yuvraj Sambhaji Hande, a 2005 batch Police Sub-Inspector (PSI). The station has 89 personnel and 12 officials who are responsible for the jurisdiction of about 10 kilometers. This area encompasses a dense population of around 300,000 residents, including regions from Jaitala Market to Hingna Pull (east to west) and Sonegaon Nipani to Isasani-Waghdhara (north to south). The Wanadongari Municipal Council, 13 slums, and the gram-panchayats of Sonegaon-Nipani, Isasani, Nildoh, and Digdoh are all under its control.

The area under the jurisdiction of MIDC Police Station comprises several important educational and healthcare institutions, like Yashwantrao Chavan College of Engineering, Priyadarshini and Raisoni Group of Institutions, Lata Mangeshkar Hospital, and Meghe Hospital.

During the leadership of PI Hande, preventive steps have been undertaken by the MIDC Police against the incidence of theft in this area and criminal activities at large. After receiving directives from Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar and Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Zone 1, Noorul Hasan, PI Hande has taken intensive actions against local known criminals and illegal liquor operating units and units running gambling units. This year itself, the police station has commenced 138 preventive actions, quite more than those taken in the previous year. Besides, the safety of residents is enhanced through actions like invoking the Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities (MPDA) Act and externment orders.

PI Hande has also publicized his mobile number 8275200947 to the residents so that emergencies or confidential information can be sent directly to him with a promise of anonymity. The station also maintains a landline contact at 0710-237935/237885. In its efforts to achieve this goal, the police establish regular interactions: Shantata Meetings, Mohalla Meetings, and Senior Citizen Meetings. With active collaboration by citizens, corporators, social workers and business owners, it understands and settles community issues and participates in seminars and awareness drives among schools and colleges to educate the youth.
