15 Best Bollywood Movies To Watch With Your Family

The idea of chilling with your family is to cosy up in a room with a movie playing and a big tub of popcorn in front of you, then we have some good news for you. Now that most of us are working from home and staying indoors (courtesy, the coronavirus pandemic), we do have a lot of extra time on our hands. And that means a Sunday movies  with family is finally possible! Here is a list of feel good movies which should be in your “to watch list"

1. Dil Dhadakne Do

Years after KJo taught us that it is all about "loving your parents," Zoya Akhtar's Dil Dhadakne Do managed to make us understand that our parents may not always be right. Anil Kapoor  and Shefali Shah as Kamal and Neelam Mehra, respectively, setting gender-specific roles for their kids Kabir and Ayesha (Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra, respectively) was a reality check for all of us.

2. Dear Zindagi

This is one movie that is flawless on all accounts - wonderful story, expert acting, mesmerizing songs and dialogues that stay with you long after the movie has ended. This is a movie that leaves you with a warm feeling in your heart and a new lesson , every time you watch .

3.Munna Bhai M.B.B.S

The movie that brought back Sanjay Dutt and bromances and gave us the wonderful character of Dr Asthana (one of Boman Irani's finest performance till date). I also hold this movie responsible for ruining the song 'dola re' for me!

4. Andaz Apna Apna

When you talk about comedy, how can you not include this classic? Remember Crime Master Gogo! Things maybe going haywire in real life but they will never be as confused as figuring out who the real Teja is, and mark kidhar hai ?!

5.Rockstar

If you’re fond of movies, it’s just NOT possible that you haven’t watched this one. Touted as one of the best performances of Ranbir Kapoor, Rockstar has attained cult status, and it is very well deserved. Go watch it if you haven’t already!

6.Bala

Another film of Ayushmann Khurrana that felt like a breath of fresh air is Bala! Breaking the stereotypes of male baldness, this one is surely one of the great hindi movies to watch with family.

7. Kapoor And Sons

It is the story of a dysfunctional family, where 90-year-old Amarjeet Kapoor (Rishi Kapoor), wants a family photograph clicked. When was the last time you got a family photograph clicked? Can't remember right? Well, you might want to try the same after watching Kapoor and Sons. For those of you who were living away from your parents and are now staying with them in the lockdown, grab this opportunity.

8.Piku

From father-son, let's move to a father-daughter relationship in Shoojit Sircar's Piku. If you are parenting your parents amid the lockdown, Deepika Padukone and Amitabh Bachchan's Piku is definitely for you. The film also starred Irrfan in the lead opposite Deepika.

9.Tamasha

Watch Imtiaz Ali's Tamasha for Ved's (Ranbir Kapoor) monologue before his parents when he talks about being pushed into the same rat race that Aamir was talking about in Taare Zameen Par, as he channels his inner storyteller. This is sure to touch a nerve.

10.Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham

Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (K3G) will teach you, or remind you, so to say, that it is all about "loving your parents." Karan Johar brought K3G to us nearly two decades ago, and certain things about the film, like Shah Rukh Khan's charm or Kajol's overdramatic dialogues, have stayed with us these 20 years. And who can forget Kareena Kapoor Khan as Poo (short for Pooja) and Hrithik Roshan as Laddoo (Rohan).

11.Barfi

This romantic drama is another perfect family hindi movie that you all will love. The story of a deaf-mute boy from Darjeeling portrayed by Ranbir Kapoor and his relationship with an Autistic girl, played by Priyanka Chopra will tug at your heartstrings.

12. 2 States

2 States, which is an adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s novel of the same name, was very well received by the audience. It is a cute love story of two people from different backgrounds. The story revolves around how the win over each other’s families and finally get their happily-ever-after.

13. Dil Toh Pagal Hai

You might have watched many love triangles in Bollywood movies, but the one between Madhur Dixit, Shahr Rukh Khan and Karisma Kapoor is etched in every cinephile’s memory.

14.The Sky Is Pink

This Priyanka Chopra and Farhan Akhtar starrer is a must-watch for a close-knit family. The movie is inspired by the real-life story of motivational speaker Aisha Chaudhary who died in 2015. The beautifully knit story is about the struggles of a couple named Aditi and Niren, who want to give all the happiness to their daughter, who is about to die. It's an emotional rollercoaster ride that will surely make you fall in love with all the characters.

15.Taare Zameen Par

Taare Zameen Par was about Ishaan Nandkishore Awasthy (Darsheel Safary) who suffered from dyslexia, and his parents were unable to understand his situation. Taare Zameen Par critiqued every Indian family's need to push their kids beyond their limits. If you are planning to watch Taare Zameen Par with your parents, don't miss Aamir Khan's speech when he, as Ram Shankar Nikumbh, reaches Ishaan's house to discuss his issue. "Har ungli ko kheech ke lambi karne mein lagein hain sab" - and wham! There is your inspiration.
