Lata Mangeshkar To Be Paid Respect With State Funeral, 2-Day National Mourning To Be Observed

The demise of India’s nightingale, Smt. Lata Mangeshkar has disheartened each Indian in the country. Even though the 92-year old singer’s health had been deteriorating for the last few days, her death came out as a shock to many. She had been admitted to Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai, back on 11th January when she faced a few Covid-related problems.  She was a legend for a reason and her contribution to the industry can never be forgotten, for years to come. She was undoubtedly the most loved singer in the country and her demise has left the entire country teary-eyed.

Apart from Hindi songs, the Melody Queen of India also composed songs for the Marathi film industry and has sung melodious songs in many languages, starting from Bengali to Assamese. She had been conferred with civilian honors of India as well as France, which are of the highest position. The Government of India declared that the country would observe 2-day national mourning in respect of the departed soul, during which the National Flag would be flown at half-mast. The Centre also decided to arrange for a state funeral for the singer, who was fondly called Lata Didi by most people. During these two days of mourning, there will also not be any kind of entertainment in the country, officially. The Government of Maharashtra has also agreed to offer a state funeral for Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar.

The country has been expressing its grief over the news of the departed singer all over social media, and heartfelt messages have been sent to the family of the late singer. Many actors and prominent figures of the Bollywood industry were seen paying tribute and prayers to the departed Nightingale of India, one last time. Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted that he would be leaving for Mumbai very soon to pay his respect to Lata Didi, and shortly afterward, he was seen in Mumbai doing the same. He met with the late singer’s family and offered them condolences. The President of India, Ram Nath Kovind also expressed his grief over the demise of the singer, along with other prominent politicians of the country, like Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
