Somy Ali Shares a Strong Bond with Manish Koirala Says "She was the Only One Who Stood By Me in Bollywood"

Somy Ali, an actor turned activist, frequently uses social media to highlight how difficult it was for her to work in Bollywood in the 1990s. But despite all of the unpleasant memories, she has one relationship that she holds dear to her heart. She has since revealed that only fellow actor Manisha Koirala stood up for her. And so it is with Koirala, who supported her when no one else did.

Sharing the memories Ali said "It is important to note that Manisha Koirala was the only actor to support me despite the possibility of jeopardizing her friendship with a prominent performer. I was, am, and always will be grateful to her for that and she knows the incident exactly I'm talking about. She advocated for me and my self-respect in a way that nobody else ever did."

In addition to discussing her friendships in the industry between 1991 and 1999, Ali revealed that she once dated actor Salman Khan. She said, "My friend circle during that time was Raveena Tandon, Tabu, Manisha, a little bit of time spent with Pooja, and I was very close to Manish Malhotra and Karan Johar. As a foolish adolescent, I was allowed to make mistakes that permanently altered the dynamics of the aforementioned friendship group.

She further discussed that she also tried to reconnect with Manisha when she knew about her cancer diagnosis, but didn't get a response which disappointed her the most.

"I learned about Manisha in 2012, when she was diagnosed," she admits. Since I lost contact with everyone in Mumbai once I left due to the grave circumstances surrounding my departure, I had no method of getting in touch with her. I did make an effort to contact her via Facebook Messenger to wish her luck, but I did not receive a response. In either case, I wish her well and am confident that she is flourishing, which is what is important.

Knowing about her Bollywood career, She was born in Pakistan and arrived in Mumbai in 1991 and appeared in films including Krishan Avtaar (1993), Anth (1994), and Chupp (1997) after that she relocate to the US in 1999.
