The 41-year-old actress claimed that despite living in Canada, she was subjected to harassment in India. She began her career as an adult entertainment star when she was between the ages of 19 and 20. She claimed to have received hate mail and death threats from India, which made her wary of ever visiting the country. She claimed that people in India were furious with her and said outrageous things about her.

Sunny told Galatta Plus about her first encounter with trolls and people gossiping about her "When I received those letters, I was between the ages of 19 and 20, and there are a lot of things that affect you in ways that would never affect me now, and you just don't know. And because I was alone, there was no one to guide me or speak to about these things, telling me 'it's okay, relax, don't worry about haters, there are so many out there'.

Sunny co-hosts the dating reality show Splitsvilla X4 with Arjun Bijlani. She previously appeared in the Kannada film Champion, which was released earlier this year. She was also seen in the Telugu film Ginna, opposite Vishnu Manchu, and in the Tamil film Oh My Ghost. Sunny also appeared in the Hindi web series Anamika earlier this year.
