South director Sukumar's most anticipated film, Pushpa: The Rise, has finally been released and is making news for being a major box office hit. But did you know that this film was going to be directed by someone other than Allu Arjun?
So, let's find out who the director's first option for the starring role in the film was!Director Sukumar recently admitted to the PTI that he wanted to cast Mahesh Babu in the film before settling on Allu Arjun for the main part. "The tale I told Mahesh Babu about red sander smuggling was also about red sander smuggling, but it was a long time ago," he remarked. I wrote a separate storey once I finished the job. I was looking for a character with a certain attitude. And I couldn't get Mahesh Babu to be cool. He is a very fair person. So, while the setting was the same, the tale was different."
Sukumar continued his chat with PTI by revealing that after revising the script, Allu Arjun was the only name that came to mind for the role. The director went on to describe how he was able to make it a pan-India film while it was being made.
"We have a really good bond and we are excellent friends," the director remarked of Allu and the pan-India theme. We worked on 'Arya' and 'Arya 2' together. He agreed to do the movie quickly after I told him about it, and he was thrilled. And when I finished the narrative, I went back to him. Also, we started 'Pushpa' as a Telugu film, but because of the issue and the presence of Allu Arjun, we decided to make it a multilingual."
Meanwhile, Pushpa: The Rise has been a major hit at the box office in Bollywood. The film earned Rs 6.50 crores on its eighth day of release (all languages).
