Aamir Khan Faces Backlash for Meeting Turkey’s First Lady

Aamir Khan has put himself in the middle of a controversy after meeting the First Lady of Turkey, Emine Erdogan. He was in Turkey for the shooting of his film ‘Lal Singh Chaddha’. The Turkish president and his wife are suspected of funding Islamists and are pro-Pak, and it is being reported that Aamir sought the meeting. On the day they met, that is, 15th August 2020, the first lady also tweeted about the same.

As per some statements, Aamir talked to Erdogan about the social responsibility projects he is associating with. During the meeting, the first lady congratulated Aamir on addressing social issues in his movies. Aamir said that he will be completing the shooting in Turkey since he wasn’t able to do it in India due to COVID-19. He also invited the lady to the film set.
The meeting has caused a row back in India because of the tension between Turkey and India. Earlier this year, Turkish president, during his visit to Islamabad, had compared the situation in Kashmir with the Gallipoli campaign of World War II.

Aamir Khan has complained about intolerance and said that he didn’t meet the PM of Israel due to his religion, but met anti-India, pro-Pak Turkish PM’s wife.
