Aagar Tum Hein, a romantic comedy that has all the trappings of today’s youth, the movie ‘Band Baaja Baaraat’ remains as fresh as 2008 even though the lead actor Ranveer Singh is today a star of Bollywood. Not only did the movie, which depicted the seemingly insane world of preparing for a wedding, leave us with a great and memorable plot, but it also offered some powerful lines. Lines from the movie’s characters Bittoo Sharma, played by Ranveer Singh, and Shruti Kakkar, played by Anushka Sharma, have left marks funny and emotional but are very informative.
The Practical Wisdom of Shruti Kakkar
Shruti, played by Anushka Sharma, is another focused and realistic girl, and she is the mouthpiece of many rocking lines in the movie. Her mantra, “Business ka first rule ... jiske saath vyapaar karo, usse kabhi na pyar karo,” became an instant favorite for its wit and relatability. They need each other, and it summed up her practical no-nonsense attitude to life and love excellently against Bittoo’s laid-back philosophy.
Another iconic line, “Aaj friend bol raha hai ... kal, I love you, bol dega,” encapsulates Shruti's initial hesitation and fear of mixing business with personal emotions. She was unadulterated and realistic, which appealed to the viewers and made the protagonist of the movie one of the most relatable Bollywood heroines.
Bittoo Sharma’s Quirky Charm
Bittoo Sharma, played by Ranveer Singh, was the soul of this movie, and to top it, the happiness of his one-liners. From his romantic plea, “Main tujhe bahut bahut bahut love karoonga aur tujhse dher Sara love longa... bol degi love?” to his hilarious realization, “Tere bina kisi cheez mein mauj nahi ... na ladkiyan trade mein, na chai mein, na chowmein mein,” Bittoo’s dialogues had a raw, unfiltered charm.
I believe most people don’t have a hard time remembering his comical outburst. “Saale rasta bhar photo khichte aa rahen hain... camel photo cow aoo photo ... gada ullu kauva kabotar... photo photo photo.” Bittoo used to exaggerate things so much that even normal boring events and incidents in our lives became memorable.
Dialogues That Define the Movie
Whether it’s the heartfelt “Le, bread pakore ki kasam!” or the insightful “Reception ho yah inflation... shadiyaan toh honi hai,” the dialogues of Band Baaja Baaraat reflect life’s colorful, unpredictable nature. Not only did these lines but also brought out the spark between Ranveer and Anushka, which made this film a cult one.
These sometimes are enough to make me recall a movie that was more about following one’s passion and equally about love. It won’t be wrong to say that the essence of Band Baaja Baaraat still goes on, and some stories, not to mention dialogues, never fade away.
