Bhumi Pednekar opens up on her personal insecurities
In an exclusive discussion with Pinkvilla, Bhumi Pednekar offered a glimpse into her perspective on perfection, admitting, "I don't know what perfection is. Truly for me, imperfection is very, very beautiful, and it sounds very poetic, but I genuinely mean it."
Opening up about her vulnerabilities, she revealed the impact of societal expectations and online criticism, stating, "I am constantly told how I look, how a particular body part appears. The internet can get very harsh, and I try my level best for that not to affect my mental health, but it does. I truly try that I am not affected by it, but somewhere, for 1-2 minutes, it affects me, and then I move past that moment."
Reflecting on the security she finds in front of the camera, Bhumi shared, "When I'm in front of the camera, I think it is the only place that I’m so secure about everything that I do. It is so liberating for me. Maybe it also comes from the fact that I am playing a character that's not me, but that journey has helped me really accept myself in many ways."
Bhumi Pednekar on finding inner happiness and strength
Bhumi emphasized the importance of personal happiness, stating, "Keeping oneself happy is crucial. If you don't keep yourself happy, nobody around you will be happy either. And this constant pressure will only continue to mount. You need small wins in life."
Acknowledging her journey to success, she remarked, "I have worked very hard to come here, and it is a very big motivation in my life. But I have only been able to reach here because there were so many no’s, and I could stand against the no’s."
She concluded the insightful conversation by saying, "It's a journey. You are never good enough for others, but the day you start to become good enough for yourself, and in that journey, there are ups and downs. There are good days where you're like 'I don’t care,' but there are days when you care. But it's okay, embrace it all."
As Bhumi gears up for the premiere of "Bhakshak" on Netflix on February 9, her candid revelations provide a glimpse into the resilience and authenticity that defines her both on and off the screen.
