It all began when producer Ekta Kapoor saw a huge potential in the novel Dark White written by Shweta Brijpuria and decided to make it in a thrilling series. It stars Sumeet Vyas, Nidhi Singh, Monica Chaudhary, Jatin Sarna amongst others and helmed by Ranchi Diaries fame Sattvik Mohanty. The series was released on November 24, 2020 on both ZEE5 and ALT Balaji.

Dark 7 White is a story of 7 friends, their aspirations and how they become suspect of one murder. After the show’s sound performance on OTT, the publisher even published copies with the poster of the show as its cover.

After the huge success of the first part, the makers decided to create the second part but seems like the planning went for a toss and the project was put on a back burner.

A close source to the platform reveals, “Producer Ekta Kapoor was really happy with the numbers of the show and instantly gave her nod to the second part. She even had planning meetings with her team but amid the shut down of her OTT platform, the project was stalled.”

“The primary team of show had quit the platform after it’s collapse and along with this show, there were several shows in the pipeline that got shelved,” the source adds.

“The show had even outdone in less than a month on ZEE5 and the team showed interest in the sequel of the show but things fell apart,” the source further tells.

Ekta however is producing shows for OTT platforms under her banner Balaji Digital, the latest being Kull- The Legacy of The Raisingghs that stars Amol Parashar, Nimrat Kaur, Gaurav Arora, Riddhi Dogra and others.

The fate of the second season of Dark 7 White is still unclear and there’s no indication of reviving the project anytime soon.
