We all love a movie which revolves around the underdog. Be it Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander,Hum Hai Rahi Pyaar Ke, Chak De India or Dangal. We just love to see the protagonist overcome all odds to come out on top in the end. Hitchki also falls in the list of aforementioned films. After several rejections from various schools, Naina Mathur(Rani Mukherjee) finally lands her dream job as a teacher at St. Notker’s High School. Her father is dismissive of her aspirations of becoming a teacher & instead wants to take up a bank job. But Naina is headstrong & wants to fulfill her dream of teaching at St. Notker’s – her alma mater. All the taunts & looks that strangers give doesn’t bother her. Her ticks & waah’s are no impediment to her teaching career is her firm belief. Her dream does eventually come true. Thanks to RTE(Right To Education), a rowdy bunch of students – children of nearby slum dwellers gain admission to St. Notkers. Due to their tantrums & devilish pranks no teacher is willing to teach them. The school management is forced to hire Naina Mathur despite their reservations.

Hichki Review
Naina Mathur(Rani) faces severe opposition from the students of Class 9F
A teacher Mr. Wadia(Neeraj Kabi) doesn’t think she will be able to survive the deadly students of Class 9F. Neither do the students, who place bets on how long she will last. Does Naina overcome all odds to succeed in the end? Watch the movie to find out.
Hitchki is an out & out Rani Mukherjee movie. She is there in every other frame & she shoulders the movie well. She is excellent in her role. You will end up loving her & her portrayal of the teacher with a never say die spirit. Kudos to her for green lighting such a story. Of the supporting cast, all the students especially of Class 9F were convincing. Neeraj Kabi is good in his role of a teacher with an elitist mindset. Sachin & Supriya Pilgaonkar make guest appearances. They have a few scenes & only one between Sachin & Rani makes a lasting impact. Siddharth P. Malhotra has to be lauded for giving us a clean entertainer with a tight script. The makers have to be credited for sensitizing Indian audiences about Tourette syndrome
Hitchki is formulaic, but still does manage to win your heart. The script follows the usual graph of any underdog story, but still manages to hold your attention.
Go watch the movie at a theatre near you, before its out. Do watch it with your entire family & be prepared to root for the underdog!
