Suriya is in peak form in his career, as evidenced by his two consecutive hits. While the actor received widespread critical and commercial acclaim for his performance in Soorarai Potter last year, it was his performance in Jai Bhim that garnered similar praise this year. Meanwhile, Jai Bhim has broken another record by becoming the highest-rated film on IMDb right now, with a rating of 9.6 and 73k votes.

This courtroom drama outperformed films like The Shawshank Redemption (9.3 with 2.5 million votes) and The Godfather (9.2 with 1.7 million votes). Jai Bhim (Victory to Bhim) is a 2021 Tamil-language legal drama film directed by T. J. Gnanavel and produced by Jyothika and Suriya under 2D Entertainment. Suriya and Lijomol Jose star in the film, which also stars Manikandan, Rajisha Vijayan, Prakash Raj, Rao Ramesh, and others.

Schindler's List, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, Pulp Fiction, and Inception are among the other films included in the Top 10 list.

TJ Gnanavel's directorial debut, Jai Bhim, is based on a true-life court case that occurred in Tamil Nadu in the early 1990s. Justice Chandru, a former Madras High Court judge, inspired Suriya's character. He used every means and cunning at his disposal to humiliate the brutal police authorities and their corrupt political allies. At times, the beatings and punishment meted out by district police against members of lower castes border on grotesquely inhumane treatment. Chandru's efforts eventually pay off, and it was inspiring to see him honored by the citizens he represented at the end, similar to Gregory Peck's final scene in "To Kill a Mockingbird."

When visiting the IMDb title page, keep in mind that the names of the characters listed in the credits do not correspond to the corresponding identification of characters in the film. For example, in the credits, actress Lijo Mol Jose played the agonized wife Sengoni, but in the film, captions referred to her as 'Sannamma. 

Following an official announcement in April 2021, principal photography for the film began that month, with many sequences shot in Chennai and Kodaikanal. The filming was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and it will resume in July 2021. That September, it was finished. S. R. Kathir and Philomin Raj were in charge of the film's cinematography and editing. Sean Roldan composed the music and score for the film. The title of the film is a play on the slogan of B. R. Ambedkar supporters.

Suriya and Jyotika have co-financed Jai Bhim through their production company, 2D Entertainment. Critics lauded the story, performances, direction, and social message of the film, and several publications named it "one of the best Tamil and Indian films of 2021." It is currently the highest-rated film on IMDb, with a score of 9.3/10, and is the first Indian film to do so.
