The mystery-thriller film Khufiya, which is based on Amar Bhushan's spy novel Escape to Nowhere, follows Krishna Mehra, an agent of the Indian spy agency R&AW, who is entrusted with uncovering a mole who is selling defence secrets while balancing her two identities as a spy and a lover.
How and why did Heena pass away?
Brigadier Mirza hosted a party, and Octopus, real name Heena Rehman, was there. When Mirza picks up the phone, he admits that he is aware that the perfume Octopus received was poisonous and stabs him in the neck with a fork.
Then, during the dinner gathering, Krishna plans to add poison to the lamb dish to make Mirza's death seem accidental rather than suspicious. Mirza feels something is wrong because no one is eating the curry, so he cuts Ravi's mother's throat, causing a commotion in the house. Ravi smashes Mirza's head against the wall and hurts him as a result of Mirza slitting her throat. Krishna then plans for him to bleed to death.
In the closing scenes, Krishna considers telling her son the truth about her job and the fact that she is a lesbian, which ultimately led to her divorce. When she calls him on his birthday, there is a sense of closure.
Does Khufiya have a real-life basis?
The book Escape to Nowhere by Amar Bhushan, who spent twenty-four years as the former head of counterespionage at India's foreign intelligence agency, served as the basis for the movie Khufiya.
His book was informed by a true story in which a CIA operative was attracted by a honey trap. The year 2004 unfolded exactly as predicted by Khufiya's timeline. A sophisticated surveillance system set up by the counterintelligence team revealed that the man in issue was a CIA mole. The narrative is mainly accurate to what actually happened, even while we are conscious that many aspects will have been dramatised, characters will have been changed, etc.
Netflix offers Khufiya for streaming.
