Career
Matheesha Pathirana, a young and promising fast bowler, began his domestic cricket career in August 2021, but made his international debut only in 2022. He has played in all formats of domestic cricket and is also a part of the Sri Lankan T20I team at the international level. While he plays for Non-Descriptors Cricket Club at home, he is also a key player for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) during the Indian Premier League (IPL).
National career
Pathirana's domestic career began when he joined the SLC Grays team for the 2021 SLC Invitational T20 League. In the same year, he made his T20 debut for SLC Grays on August 22. Due to his stellar performance during the league, he was selected for Sri Lanka's U-19 squad for the 2022 Cricket World Cup in the West Indies.
International career
Pathirana's ODI debut was on June 2, 2023, where he achieved the milestone of taking the number one wicket when he dismissed Rahmat Shah against Afghanistan. In his ODI career, he has played 12 matches and picked up 17 wickets at an average of 36.24. Moreover, he made his T20I debut on 27 August 2022 against Afghanistan.
