Neeyat is a gripping whodunnit set in a castle in Scotland, where a business tycoon named Ashish Kapoor invites friends and family to celebrate his birthday amid the impending collapse of his empire. Unbeknownst to most guests, CBI officer Mira Rao is present with the intention to arrest Ashish for massive fraud and the tragic deaths of his employees due to unpaid salaries. However, before Mira can apprehend Ashish, he meets a mysterious death by falling off a cliff. This unexpected turn of events forces Mira to take on the role of a detective and uncover the hidden murderer among the guests.

After Ashish Kapoor's death, Zara claims to have witnessed his suicide, but Mira questions the credibility of her account. Mira begins to investigate the guests, discovering various motives and secrets. Jimmy, in debt to Ashish, challenges his father's will, which named Ashish as the estate owner instead of him. Lisa, Ashish's current love interest, is being blackmailed, while Sasha, Tahira Kapoor's adoptive daughter, is upset over unpaid education fees. Kay seems innocent and determined to find the real murderer. Zara, Ashish's therapist, remains unfazed by the deaths of her dog and Ashish.

Mira suspects that the absence of the castle staff was orchestrated by Tanveer, the event manager, to limit witnesses. As the investigation unfolds, Tanveer is revealed to be Tanmay, a news reporter seeking a scoop on Ashish's life. Mira uncovers Tanmay's past relationship with Gigi, Ryan's girlfriend, who is also at the castle to help him escape with Ashish's briefcase.

As the plot thickens, Noor admits to attempting to poison Ashish due to his oppressive behavior towards her and her husband, Sanjay. Lisa confesses to spying on Ashish for Raj Choudhary, the Minister of Industries, but she claims to have genuinely fallen in love with him during her mission.

In the climax, Mira gathers the suspects and accuses each one of various crimes, but the real truth is far more intricate. It turns out that Ashish faked his death and orchestrated a plan involving several individuals, including Kay, Zara, and Tanmay. Mira ultimately takes action, leading to the demise of both Zara and Ashish.

In the mid-credits scene, the real Mira Rao vows to track down the imposter who impersonated her and escaped with the briefcase full of cash.

Neeyat ends with a confrontation between the real Mira Rao and the fake one, leaving open the possibility of a potential sequel where the two characters become arch-nemeses in a thrilling cat-and-mouse chase.
