A Phenomenal Theatrical Journey

Released on December 5, 2024, Pushpa 2: The Rule has become a huge hit in the world of cinema. Directed by Sukumar, Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna led the film and not only clinched the critics’ appreciation jar but also filled the commercial box office jar. For its opening week, it has grossed ₹70,3 crore in India, and moved up in the list of highest-grossing Indian films below Jawan and Stree 2.

Netflix Bags the Streaming Rights

Interestingly, the deal becomes even bigger, with Netflix making a humongous ₹275 crore as the streaming rights for the Pushpa 2. Since it is an OTT giant, the latter wants the movie to reach out to people from all over the nation and even more by releasing it in various languages such as Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi.

 

When Can Fans Expect It on OTT?

Netflix has not teased an OTT release yet, but going by trends, the streaming platform generally releases its movies within 6-8 weeks of their theatrical run. The fans can most probably watch the blockbuster from the comfort of home as early as February 2025.

A Perfect Blend of Action and Emotion

Sequel to the success critics have appreciated the director Sukumar for balancing a mass commercial film with sociopolitical relevance. Even though the movie Pushpa 2 lasts for 3 hours and 20 minutes, no audience would be bored because it comes with full-packed actions, explores an emotional side to Pushpa’s story and, finally, a mouth-watering climax.

 

But like they say, the show must go on, and yes, the film does not lack its controversies. Lead actor Allu Arjun has been recently arrested owing to a fan’s release adjudged as tragic and disconcerting due to a stampede that happened during the premiere. Ironically, the outcry appeared to have contributed to a 70% increase in the effects on the movies’ box office collection as the public sentiment is quite fickle.
