Radhika Apte’s Next Is A Feature Adaptation Of Short Film Chutney
Bollywood’s popular fashion designer Manish Malhotra has turned producer with a bouquet of films under his banner named Stage5 productions. He is in the news to announce the biopic of legendary actress Meena Kumari. There were reports that Kriti Sanon was under consideration to play the yesteryear actress but nothing has been confirmed yet.
Besides this project, Manish had also announced a feature with Zeenat Aman, another feature titled Gustaakh Ishq formerly titled as Ul Jalool Ishq that stars Naseeruddin Shah, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Vijay Varma and Sharib Hashmi. Now, the news is ringing that Manish has roped in Radhika Apte for a film that is a feature adaptation of a 2016 short film Chutney.
Chutney was helmed by Jyoti Kapur Das and starred Tisca Chopra, Rasika Dugal and Adil Hussain. The film is based on the issue of extra marital affair in a middle class setup.
A close source to the film tells, “The film that is bankrolled by Manish has Radhika Apte and she plays the role of Tisca Chopra from the short film. The film is shot and ready but Manish is waiting for the right time to announce the film as he has two other big films to release in the pipeline.”
“However, it is unclear whether Manish has officially bought the rights of Chutney to remake it as a feature or it is softly inspired from the short film,” the source informs.
Radhika was last seen in a cameo role in Sriram Raghavan’s Merry Christmas. Prior to which, she was seen in Anushree Mehta’s Mrs. Undercover that released digitally.
Radhika has made her niche with her choices of films and series. The actress is inclined towards more of art and indie films. Although, she has been a part of a few commercial films too.
