The movie “Sanju” which had its released in the year 2018 is an Indian biographical drama that explores the life of Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt. The script is witty and the pace of the movie is well maintained unlike some of the other biopics, there is equal emphasis on the lighter aspect of Dutt’s life and the episodes of his life that depicted his insecurities and troubles. The timeline encompasses lots of scenes and moments, thus providing a rather full view of the actor’s path.
Main Cast
Ranbir Kapoor in particular does a stand-out job of playing Sanjay Dutt, his body movements, speech, and level of energy are all well captured by the actor. His performance as Dutt is the soul of the movie and this has been highly appreciated by the public at large. Paresh Rawal as Sunil Dutt, Sanjay’s father, provides realistic acting regarding a father figure. There is some brightness in the form of Vicky Kaushal who essays the role of Kamlesh ‘Kamli’ Kanhaiyalal Kapasi, Sanjay’s best friend, who aptly gives the film a warm backdrop. Dia Mirza essays the character of Manyata Dutt, Nargis Dutt is portrayed by Manisha Koirala, Ruby is played by Sonam Kapoor and Winnie Diaz by Anushka Sharma all of whom have important roles to play in the movie.
Technical Crew
The music for the film has been given by A. R. Rahman, Rohan-Rohan with Vikram Montrose who prepares the scores which supplement the message of the movie. The cinematography has been done by Ravi Varman who has managed to capture the flavour of different eras depicted in the movie, whereas on the editing part, Rajkumar Hirani has done a good job.
Conclusion
Quite unexpectedly, ‘Sanju‘ is much more than a biography of Sanjay Dutt; it is the intelligent portrayal of a man’s life – his achievements and his failures. Packed with brilliant acting, especially by Ranbir Kapoor, and backed by the master director Rajkumar Hirani, “Sanju” is a mesmerising movie that stays with the viewers even after the end credits have rolled.
