Sara Ali Khan Admits She’d Play Child of Divorce Card with Saif Ali Khan

In a recent interview, Sara revealed that she and borther Ibrahim would always get their ways as children by playing the victim with Saif and Amrita. The couple seperated when the kids were very young. 

While promoting Sara's upcoming, Gaslight, she was asked if the siblings have ever gaslit their parents. Sara smiled sheepishly, and said that of course they have. “Sometimes, we played the victim card,” she said. She continued, “Like the obvious way, in my family dynamic. Like, ‘Abba is not here mummy, give this to us,’ at the age of 11, or, ‘Abba, you don’t live with us, give this to us,’ at the age of 15.” She joked that she still does this. “Replace 11 and 15 with 26,” she said with a laugh.

Saif and Amrita got married in 1991 and sperated in 2004. Both the children are bought up by Amrita. Sara has talked about how the divorce had affected her many times. She said, “It’s very simple. If you see there are two options. Either live in the same house where no one is happy or live separately, where everyone is happy with their own lives, and you also get a different kind of love and warmth every time you meet.” To Harper’s Bazaar, she said, “I’ve always had the tendency to mature a bit faster than others my age. And even at the age of 9, I think I had the maturity to see that these two people living together in our home were not happy.”
