Selfie: The Akshay Kumar-Emraan Hashmi Movie Has A Terrible Debut With Just 6% Of The Theatres Filled

Selfiee has already failed, with morning shows throughout India showing only 6% occupancy on its first day.

Selfiee, starring Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi, had a single release and two big-name stars, but it has not done well at the box office. Very low occupancy during the early showings of the movie raised concerns of a weak weekend and opening day, barring word-of-mouth promotion.

Selfiee supposedly opened in 3000 theatres around India, therefore it was a significant release. With Akshay's celebrity and some favourable buzz surrounding Bollywood, it was anticipated that Selfiee would just debut to respectable figures. Few advance reservations, however, diminished that hope. And now, morning shows' shockingly low viewership has dashed all aspirations. Selfiee only had a 6.71% occupancy rate for morning shows in India, according to Sacnilk.

Just 5% of rooms are occupied in Mumbai, compared to 2% and 3% in Bangalore and Lucknow, respectively. According to the most recent data, Selfiee has a 0% occupancy rate in Chennai. The biggest surprise originates in Bhopal, where the movie was also filmed. From 66 showings in the city, the movie only had a 1% occupancy rate. This suggests that the movie would have trouble grossing more than Rs 4 crore on opening day. The reviews for the movie have been generally unfavourable, so word of mouth won't be able to save it either.

Raj Mehta's Selfie is a replica of the popular Malayalam film Driving Licence. About 24 hours before the movie's debut, advance booking became available, giving few fans much time to make reservations. Even with that taken into consideration, the advance figures are modest. In advance reservations, the film sold about 30,000 seats throughout India. Sacnilk reports that the film's opening day revenue was only Rs 73.76 lakh, which is a depressing result.

Aside from Mrunal Thakur's brief cameo, Nushrratt Bharuccha, Diana Penty, Abhimanyu Singh, Mahesh Thakur, and Meghna Malik also appear in Selfiee. Prithviraj Productions, Dharma Productions, and Cape Of Good Films all contributed to the movie's production.
