Kareena Kapoor Khan plays the key character of Jasmeet, commonly known as Jazz, in the film. Ranveer Brar, who is more well-known for his culinary prowess, plays the important part of Daljeet Kohli, the father of the kid who was killed. Ash Tandon, Keith Allen, Stuart Whelan, Prabhleen Sandhu, and more actors are also included in the cast.

A gritty police procedural straight out of the headlines may sum up a lot of movies and TV shows, but when it's directed by a well-known director, the genre takes on a whole new meaning. With The Buckingham Murders, Indian filmmaker Hansal Mehta does precisely that.

Kareena Kapoor as Jasmeet senses that something is going wrong with this murder case from the start. Two Muslim teens named Naved and Saquib are found to be the owners of the car. Saquib is not particularly cooperative while being questioned, but Naved quickly admits that Saquib killed Ishpreet by holding his head underwater until he choked to death. Hardik, who seems to harbor resentment toward both of them, is the only one who is pleased about this development. We discover that his sister's current state—that is, her being in a coma—was influenced by the youngsters. Although the matter appears to have been resolved, Miller is concerned that it might lead to tensions within the community similar to the riots in Leicester in 2022.

Jasmeet, though, detects a rat. She discovers the truth after attacking Hardik and removing herself from the investigation since she cannot believe that any of the lads were involved in the murder. Not the full truth, that is. It turns out that Ishpreet's body was discovered outside the car, by Hardik and a fellow police officer, ahead of everyone else. They concealed it in the car in an attempt to cast suspicion on Naved and Saquib. If Saquib claimed to have slain Ishpreet, Hardik had assured Naved that he would soon be let free. That was untrue, but Hardik did not murder Ishpreet either. Then who then did it?

Daljeet emerges as the main suspect after Naved and Saquib are found not to have been engaged in the murder. He had taken out a sizable insurance policy in his son's name and would profit handsomely should the youngster, well, be taken out of the picture. In addition, he had an affair with his son's piano instructor and was violent to his wife. It has also been reported that the child had stopped going to lessons recently.

But in the end, it was discovered that the murderer was none other than Preeti Kohli, the boy's mother, is his actual mother? She had been unhappy with her life after getting married since she had been treated like a servant in her own home. Ishpreet's life took a turn for the worst when she was adopted—a move that was not consented to by her. Her home and household responsibilities were all she had in life, and to make matters worse, her spouse was unfaithful to her. The surprise is unexpected at first, but it also makes sense when you consider the bigger picture. That will, however, pull the rug out from under you.

The directing by Hansal Mehta is tense and keeps the tension constant throughout. The screenplay, written by Aseem Arrora, Raghav Raj Kakker, and Kashyap Kapoor, has a purposeful tempo that provides the characters and story a great deal of nuance and complexity without being too sluggish. Despite not being a professional actor, Ranveer Brar gives a powerful performance in the part, making a strong impression as well.
