Thyroid and its disorders

What is the thyroid gland?

The thyroid gland is situated in everybody in the front portion of the neck. It is a hormonal gland. We all know the thyroid is one of the most important endocrine glands in our body, regulating our energy levels, metabolisms, etc.

Where most people resort to allopathic medication to treat thyroid disorders, one should know that it only assists in keeping the levels in check.

But alternative medicines like Homeopathy and Ayurveda have permanent treatment solutions – meaning once your levels are in check, you will never become a thyroid patient again.

India is home to excellent alternative treatment  facilities and faculties. The Indian nationals give equal weightage to alternative methods of healing and hence we have excellent doctors for Ayurveda and Homeopathy too.

Dr. Yogesh Jadhav practices German Homeopathy at The Healing Centre: Advanced Speciality Homeopathy Clinic, one of the best homeopathy clinics in Aurangabad,He accepts the most challenging thyroid patients and treats them successfully.

Here, Dr. Jadhav briefs us on Thyroid disorders and Homeopathic approach to healing it.

Types of thyroid disorders.

Thyroid disorders have various types. Primarily, it is hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism.

Today we will discuss Hypothyroidism. Hyperthyroidism is also called underactive thyroid gland.

What is hypothyroidism?

As explained by Dr. Yogesh Jadhav, Hyperthyroidism is a condition in which the thyroid gland cannot produce enough thyroid hormone. Hypothyroidism is a chronic autoimmune disorder.

The thyroid hormone regulates the body's metabolism. Understandably, people with this condition will have a slow metabolism

Causes of hypothyroidism.

Hashimoto’s or autoimmune thyroiditis – thyroid glands get inflamed due to the patient's immune system. It is the most common reason why thyroid gland fails.

The second major cause is the broad category of medical treatments, some involving removal of the thyroid gland altogether.

There are several other rare causes of hypothyroidism. One of them is an entirely normal thyroid gland that is not making enough hormones because of the problem in the pituitary gland. If the pituitary does not produce enough thyroid-stimulating hormone, the thyroid does not signal to release thyroxine. So, it is not able to produce the hormone.

Symptoms of hypothyroidism.

If you find yourself with the following symptoms, please consult Dr. Yogesh Jadhav at Advanced Speciality Homeopathy Clinic in Aurangabad.

  •   Generally, you will have fatigue or feel weak.

  •    Gain weight

  •     Increased difficulty in losing weight.

  •     Rough and pale skin.

  •     Loss of hair

  •     Indigestion problems

  •     Constipation

  •     Obesity

  •     Irregular periods

  •     Breathlessness.

These are all the common symptoms of hypothyroidism.

Can Hypothyroidism result in other complications?

These are all the complications due to hypothyroidism:

  •     Problems like infertility

  •     PCOD

  •     Bone deformity and osteoporosis

These will occur if they are not taking proper treatment, according to Dr. Yogesh Jadhav. The patient also will have to take care; otherwise, metabolism will become very slow.

Each individual or patient may have any number of these symptoms, and they will vary with the severity of the thyroid hormone deficiency and the length of the time you have been suffering from it.

You may have one of these symptoms as your main complaint. At the same time, others will not have any symptoms and will be suffering. But, most people will have a combination of these symptoms.

In rare cases, complications can result in severe life-threatening depression or heart failure.

How can we detect Hypothyroidism?

Hypothyroidism can often be diagnosed with a simple blood test—the thyroid hormone panel.

For some people, however, it's not so simple. More detailed tests are needed.

The average thyroid-stimulating hormone level is within 5.5. If your test results show higher then 5.5, then we call it hypothyroidism.

Who is at risk of Hypothyroidism?

As per Dr.Yogesh Jadhav, hyperthyroidism is also a lifestyle disorder because it depends upon our lifestyle, and sometimes it comes due to heredity.

So, in life, stress disorder means there is depression. Generally, thyroid problems will occur due to depression.

Meaning stressful jobs will increase or decrease our TSH. Increased TSH is called hypothyroidism.  So, we have to reduce stress levels.

Prevention and precautions to take in hypothyroidism.

Diet and exercise.

  • You should mainly avoid eating cabbage, cauliflower, and Spinach because they are highly iatrogenic. Meaning, interferes with homeopathic line of treatment for thyroid.

  • We have to eat more fruits and vegetables and exercise should be there every day.

  • You have to know, a minimum of half-an-hour physical exertion is needed to keep healthy.

  • If there is any stress, you have to reduce your stress levels.

Treatment of Hypothyroidism.

Let us say treatment in homeopathy for hyperthyroidism is very good. Remedies are there for hypothyroidism in homeopathy.

Homeopathy is based on constitutional treatment. Constitutional treatment means we take total symptoms of the disease: physical, generals, and mental state in consideration. In homeopathy we treat hypothyroidism with constituents like calcaria carbonicum, carcinocin, etc.

Conclusion:

People are under the notion that once you get thyroid, the treatment is lifelong.

Homeopathy disagrees.

Patients with thyroid can be treated entirely. Some may be treated in a short duration while others may take longer based on how long they have been suffering from thyroid. E.g. autoimmune disorder.

In most cases thyroid can be treated permanently and safely within 2-3 years completely.

Gradually with proper medication and proper guidance, you can get off that medication, get your thyroid treated and then be over with it forever. You don't need to go back to being a thyroid patient for life.
