Since history, it is said that a woman’s job is only to look after the house and kids. As a result of this saying and people believing it, women were oppressed and got to show their talents very late. But now as the world is changing and becoming more free and less judgemental and oppressive, women are more freely showing their talents and expressing their ideas. They are showing the world that they aren’t any less special from the male of their species and that they can truly run the world. This is our list of top 5 female Indian entrepreneurs in 2022 which we are proud of.
1. Anju Shrivastava:
As a child, Anju Shrivastava got very disturbed when she saw someone in trouble. Now, as a 58 year old, she sells flavoured dips, sauces, baked chips, tea, pita bread and a lot more by running a company that helps women and farmers lead a financially secure life. She buys land from farmers and rents it to them to plant culinary herbs. The farmers, which were below poverty line and used to work hard for the entire year to earn only 10,000/- annually, now earn 1 lakh per year.
2. Nidhi Yadav:
When a 25 year old software engineer Nidhi Yadav realised that her true passion was in fashion, she quit her job from Deliotte and enrolled for a year long course in Fashion Buying and Merchandising in Polimoda Fashion School in Italy. She initially started making clothes at her home and selling them through sites like Jabong and Myntra, companies which provided shipping and publicity. Today, she owns AKS Clothing, a 137crore brand of women’s wear.
3. Malika Datt Sadani:
Malika Datt Sadani, a software engineer from Pune, left her job while pregnant to join her husband who was transferred to London. After giving birth in London and living there for a 2 years, she missed the quality of baby products that were available there, after moving back to India. When she was pregnant for the second time, her first daughter was diagnosed with Eczema. The cause of it was diagnosed to be the wrong cream. Malika was horrified to find out that such a small thing caused her daughter so much pain. That’s why, in 2016, she founded her company The Moms Co. that made all kinds of maternity, post maternity and baby products that tolerated no compromise with quality. Today, her 4 year old start up has touched 100 crore mark.
4. Kanika Tekriwal:
Nine years ago, 24 year old cancer survivor, Kanika Tekriwal entered the aviation industry without owning a single aircraft. She wanted to build a public transportation service like Ola and Uber, but with planes. With just an initial investment of Rs 5600, she started an app which booked public flights. Today, after a lot of hard work and dedication, her company, Jetsetgo has grown worth Rs 150 crore, employing 200 employees and offices in Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, and Chennai.
5. Mandeep Kaur Sidhu:
Mandeep Kaur was a simple but brilliant village girl who stood first in every exam from her school to the university. Her family was so poor that they couldn’t afford to pay her fees. Her father ran a flour mill in Tangra, a village near Amritsar. She got a job for 25,000 per month and slowing more offers started pouring in. Soon, she started her own IT company called Simba Quartz which has an annual turnover of Rs 2 crore and employs 50 people in Tangra.
