Huge anticipation surrounded the release of Varisu and Thunivu for Pongal 2023, with fans eager to see Vijay and Ajith square off at the box office once more. Despite the fact that both movies had a mixed reception, Thala and Thalapathy's star power helped the movies get off to a strong start.

While Thunivu opened to average reviews while Varisu opened to above-average reviews, both films were impacted by pre-festival buzz and mixed word of mouth. Thunivu also had a strong debut, while Varisu, in comparison, had a weaker debut. Due to the working day effect, the collection fell even more on the second day. On festival days, it was anticipated that both of these films would become very tall.

However, both movies saw a significant decline on day 3 as well. The third day numbers for both films in Tamil Nadu and worldwide are underwhelming. Although the buyers had warned the producers that Wednesday is a bad day, both movies were still released on that day.

As a result of the results, trade circles anticipate that Varisu and Thunivu should jump at least from today and cash the Weekend to obtain the highest numbers.

This heist action drama, Thunivu, was directed by H Vinoth, and Boney Kapoor served as producer. Thegimpu/Tunivu is the third project on which Ajith, Vinoth, and Boney Kapoor have worked together.

The group had previously worked in Nerkonda Paarvai and Valimai before Thunivu. In addition to Ajith Kumar, Manju Warrier, Samuthirakani, and John Kokken also play significant roles in the movie.

Rashmika Mandanna, Sarathkumar, Jayasudha, Srikanth, Sham, and Prakash Raj all have significant roles in Vijay's Varisu. This project, which is being directed by Vamsi Paidipally, is being funded by Dil Raju's Sri Venkateswara Cinema.
