Huawei Mate 50 Pro launches internationally with XMAGE variable aperture camera

The Huawei Mate 50 Pro made its international premiere today after making its Chinese debut earlier this month. The phone features a sizable notched display, a main camera with a variable aperture and 50MP resolution, and XMAGE imaging technology.

The phone contains a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 CPU, but US sanctions prevent it from having 5G capabilities. The absence of Gorilla Glass is due to the same reason; Huawei used a Kunlun Glass to cover the 6.74" OLED.

In China, the Mate 50 Pro has satellite connectivity, however the worldwide variant lacks it because it uses the Beidou Satellite Message 3 protocol. The user interface for local units is EMUI 13, as opposed to Harmony OS 3.0, which is another distinction between global and local units.

For €1,299, the Huawei Mate 50 Pro in Silver or Black with 8 GB RAM and 256 GB of storage will be available in international markets. In addition, a Leather Orange model with 8/512 GB of memory and a €1,399 price tag is available. Market conditions will determine availability.

In a media conference call, a Huawei representative said there are presently no plans for the vanilla Mate 50 to be made available outside of China, while the Mate 50E and Mate 50 RS Porsche Design are unquestionably staying in China.
