1/4 Anil Chauhan:

  • Anil Chauhan labelled as the "biggest car thief in India," led a group that stole more than 5,000 vehicles between 1998 and 2022, reportedly selling them in Nepal and the Northeast. 
  • Chauhan was apprehended in September 2022. 
  • As to PTI's report by police, Chauhan, an Assamese native from Tejpur, is also a major supplier of illicit weapons. In addition, he was well-known for trafficking the horns of rhinos into the state from the northeast. 
  • In all, 181 prior charges have been filed against him, and he was found guilty in a criminal case at the Nizamuddin police station and given a five-year sentence.

2/4  Mithilesh Kumar Srivastava:

  • Also known as Natwarlal, who attempted to sell "Taj Mahal" and "Parliament," was frequently referred to as India's greatest "conman". 
  • As a professional lawyer, Natwarlal entered the realm of crime when he mastered the art of forging signatures. Natwarlal belonged to Bihar and was detained several times, but he was usually able to escape. 
  • He is said to have been charged with over 14 counts of forgery in his native state alone, where he received a sentence of about 113 years in prison. But he is reported to have only served 20 years in prison due to his history of devious escapes.

3/4 Ravi ‘Pujari’:

  • Most of the time, Ravi alias Pujari—who has been charged in 35 cases—made sure that he never left any evidence of his thefts. 
  • Ravi began stealing in 2014, and in 2015, he was sent into custody for the first time. Later in 2020, he was taken into custody a second time. For the most part, he stole without assistance. 
  • The Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) has been invoked in connection with Pujari's suspected participation in the extortion of IAS official Radheshyam Mopalwar in 2017; the criminal is still considered a wanted person in this case. 

4/4 Dhani Ram Mittal:

  • Known as "super Natwarlal," Mittal has been operating throughout Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Chandigarh, and Punjab as a car thief since 1964. 
  • Born in 1939 in Bhiwani, Haryana, Mittal also has a certificate in calligraphy and a law degree. He is the subject of roughly 130 legal proceedings in several North Indian states.
  • Mittal admitted to being a habitual thief (kleptomaniac) during an AN questioning. He had previously been arrested for evading police custody, impersonating someone else, cheating, and violating the NDPS Act, the Arms Act, the Gambling Act, and the Excise Act. Mittal often used a master key to target older models of cars without anti-theft equipment.
