Punjabi Canadians count around 9,50,000 and lead to around 2.6% of the country's population. The Punjabis first arrived in Canada in the late 19th century to work in the forestry industry. In the mid 20th century, the Canadian immigration laws were relaxed and this lead to a rapid increase in the population.
