Sonal Devraj: The Dancer Who Turned a Hobby Into a Movement.
Long before dance reels ruled social media feeds, Sonal Devraj was already twirling her way into people’s hearts — first on stage, then on screen, and now across millions of phones worldwide. As one half of the powerhouse duo behind Team Naach, she has built something far bigger than a dance channel; she’s built a community.

A Life Rooted in Rhythm.
Born on 4 September 1990 in Chennai Sonal will turn 36 in 2026. Her early years were spent in Bahrain, where she completed her schooling while quietly developing a deep love for movement. Trained in Bharatanatyam, jive, and Bollywood-style dance since childhood, she later expanded her repertoire abroad, picking up additional dance forms that would shape her eclectic teaching style years later.
She eventually pursued higher studies at Smt. M.M.K College of Commerce & Economics in Mumbai, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Management Studies along with a certification in management accounting — a surprisingly corporate academic path for someone who would go on to build a dance empire.
From Pageants to the Big Screen
Before dance took over her life professionally, Sonal dipped her toes into modelling and pageantry, finishing as the second runner-up at Miss Kerala in 2010. That recognition opened doors to acting, and she made her film debut in the Malayalam movie Mullassery Madhavan Kutty Nemom P.O. in 2012. However, she chose not to continue down the acting path, citing uncomfortable experiences with certain industry figures. Interestingly, before dance became her full-time calling, she also worked as a wedding photographer.
The Birth of Team Naach
The real turning point came through a friendship. Sonal and Nicole Concessao met in college and joined the same dance team back in 2007. After graduating, both took up corporate jobs, but neither could shake their passion for dance. In 2014, that passion turned into a business when they co-founded Team Naach, starting out with just twenty students.
Their breakout moment arrived when a fusion dance video — blending Kathak, hip-hop, and belly dance set to a popular Bollywood track — went viral online, drawing attention from far beyond their immediate circle. That single video became the spark that transformed Team Naach from a local dance class into an online sensation, eventually growing a YouTube following in the millions.
Life Off the Dance Floor
Sonal keeps her personal life relatively private but has been linked romantically to Sampat Singh Rathore, founder of Veda Film Factory. As of 2026, she remains unmarried. She’s often seen enjoying a relaxed evening with a glass of wine at social gatherings, embracing a lifestyle that mirrors her free-spirited on-screen energy.
She’s also known for her ink a tattoo on her left hand and the word “Naach” etched onto her back, a permanent tribute to the art form that defined her career.
The Bigger Picture.
What makes Sonal’s story compelling isn’t just the dance moves it’s the reinvention. From a pageant contestant to a brief film actor to a full-fledged digital entrepreneur, she’s proof that passion when nurtured consistently, can outlast any single career path.
