A Note About the Ranking
The ranking of universities by land area varies from country to country. Some institutions only include their main contiguous campus while others may include forests, agricultural research land, field stations, or other properties owned by the university. For instance, according to the UC Davis official report, they have a 5,300-acre main campus, while SUNY ESF’s 25,000-acre total includes several campuses and field stations.
The ranking is thus intended not as a worldwide league table, but as a comparison of the properties of the major university/college properties based on their land area.
