It has come to our attention that Emraan Hashmi was the original pick for Aashiqui 2.

Emraan Hashmi revealed that Mohit Suri initially approached him for "Aashiqui 2." However, Emraan felt the film would be better suited for relatively new actors, without established images. He emphasized that he doesn't regret turning down certain films as they weren't meant for him. Before "Aashiqui 2," Emraan had collaborated with Mohit Suri on six films, including "Zeher," "Kalyug," "Awarapan," "Raaz: The Mystery Continues," "Crook," and "Murder 2," and they continued their collaboration with "Hamari Adhuri Kahani" in 2015.

Emraan Hashmi, meantime, recently starred alongside Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif in Maneesh Sharma's Tiger 3, for which he won numerous awards for the role. During a recent exclusive interview, Emraan revealed his affection for the Dabangg actor. Salman and Emraan don't hang together every day, according to Emraan, but they do have a cosy relationship. As in, there are those folks you might run into who don't really connect. Well, you're courteous and professional, but Salman and I get along well, so that adds to the enjoyment of our work environment, Emraan had said.

He will soon be seen opposite Pawan Kalyan in Sujeeth's forthcoming action-thriller, OG.
