Guess Who: This Actor Was Asked To Take A 40% Pay Cut

Mumbai Mirror has published a blind item about an actor who was asked to take a 40% pay cut by a production house

We have been writing about pay cuts & budget cuts in Bollywood, almost every week since the COVID-19 outbreak. It looks like this week will be no different.

This actor was flying quite high, after the success of his previous film. It was the Hindi remake of a south Indian film. The movie got a lot of brickbats from feminists. But the audiences loved it & the movie ended being one of the biggest hits of the year.

The actor has been in Bollywood for quite some time, but his movies have never been superhits. He does have enthusiastic fans, but his moderate success led to him never being a true blue superstar. It was annoying for folks on the set of a period epic he starred in, to watch him feel insecure around a younger superstar. While the younger superstar is many years junior to him, he is a much bigger star than him. This actor was always worried that he would steal the show. It took a lot of reassurance from the director to calm his nerves.

We had published an OI Original about how this star got into a scuffle with his wife’s friend who visited her when he wasn’t around. He himself has been cheating on his wife, but couldn’t see his wife in the presence of another male.

If news reports are to be believed the actor & his family are currently in Beas, Punjab. He is likely to be there till the end of the lockdown.

It will be interesting to see how he builds from here. A few more hits would mean a shot at the box office crown. A flop would mean relegation to the outside of the top 10 stars list.

A leading film production house, currently backing a sure-fire superhit, has asked its director and lead actor to take a 40% pay cut. The film is already on the floors, but the producers say unless these take a salary slash, they may be forced to shelve the film. No there isn’t any mention of a deferred payment or percentage of profits yet, which is leaving the two main players scratching their heads in disbelief.
